Ladywell Tavern

Ladywell Tavern has been closed for a few weeks now and I'd heard that there had been another change of management and further refurbishment works were underway. However, I was glad to see notices go up on the boards outside the pub this week saying that it is will hopefully be re-opening at the end of April with real ales, fine wines and traditional pub food. Sounds good, fingers crossed!

The thing to worry about is when Lewisham Life write it up as a gastro pub, that seems to be the kiss of death for any pub!

We had a party for new London Green Party members in a real ale pub a few weeks ago. When I went in there the place was full of earnest-looking blokes with beards. It took me a while to work out that they were being earnest about their beer and were not all new Green Party members. If we do indeed get a pub selling good real ale, prepare for the invasion of bearded men ;).

Great news - been waiting for it to re-open and glad it really seems to be happening!
This was posted on the beerintheevening.com website in Feb:

"Ladies and gentlemen,

We are currently replacing the rotten floor underneath the bar and about a million other things that need doing. We should be open early April if everything goes to plan and will have a lovely traditional english pub with a modern twist selling a good selection of our favorite beers, ciders and guest ales. We have a top kitchen and are hoping to provide good old simple grub daily and a smashin sunday lunch. Our philosophy is all about good drink, good food, good music and good times.

Please bear with us, we have a lot to do and we want to get everything right. We will be open as soon as possible.

David"
